Drafting Technician
Overview
We are seeking a skilled CAD Drafter to join our growing team. This role plays a critical part in transforming design intent into accurate, buildable shop drawings that drive successful fabrication and installation.
At Sheboygan Glass & Glazing, drafting goes beyond lines on a screen—it’s about constructability, coordination, and execution. The ideal candidate takes ownership of their work, thinks through installation challenges, and collaborates closely with Project Managers, fabrication teams, and field crews.
Key Responsibilities
•Produce detailed and accurate shop drawings for:
•Aluminum storefront systems
Curtain wall systems (stick‑built and unitized)
•Interior glass systems and entrances
•Door, frame, and hardware layouts
•Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and project submittals
•Coordinate drawings with Project Managers, field conditions, and schedules
•Communicate fabrication requirements clearly with the shop, including CNC considerations
•Incorporate RFIs, field measurements, and engineering feedback into revised drawings
•Ensure all drawings are complete, coordinated, and fully constructable
•Maintain organized drawing files, revision histories, and documentation
Qualifications
•Proficiency in AutoCAD (required)
•Strong ability to read and interpret:
•Architectural plans
•Contract documents and specifications
•Shop drawings
•Solid understanding of:
•Aluminum framing systems
•Glass types and performance requirements
•Door and hardware integration
•High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality
•Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Preferred Experience
•2+ years of CAD drafting experience (commercial construction or glazing industry preferred)
•Experience detailing:
•Curtain wall systems
•Storefront systems
•Door and hardware packages
•Familiarity with:
•CNC programming workflows
•Fabrication and shop processes
•Field‑verified and “as‑built” conditions
